Of All the Camel Coats on the Internet, These 15 Are the Hands-Down Best
As someone who owns more camel coats than black coats, I'll be the first to say that the former is the number one essential when it comes to outerwear. It magically works with every other color on the planet and every outfit you could think of—from workout attire to evening attire.
If you've yet to invest in a camel coat or are ready for a fresh one that you'll want to wear for years to come, you were wise to click in. Practically every brand that makes outerwear has its version of a camel coat, but not all are created equal. Certain camel coats have garnered legendary reputations and have their own distinctive details, while others are well on their way to cult status. Below, I've selected 15 standout camel coats that you truly can't go wrong with if you choose to add any of them to your wardrobe. So scroll on to find out what makes these particular coats so special and shop them for yourself—from investment options to budget-friendly ones.

I'm a huge fan of Aritzia's Slouch coats, and the new camel iteration, Cocoa Sand, doesn't disappoint. The oversize coat also comes in three lengths, which is basically unheard of with coats. The shade is more of a soft, muted camel, which I personally love, and the roomy fit allows for wear over even the bulkiest of sweaters. Also, the price point is more reasonable than some of the other standout camel coats on the market.
Toteme finally released its iconic scarf jacket in camel this season, and it's my favorite one yet. This has been a cult buy for a few years now, and I can't see it going anywhere anytime soon. If you're ready to invest, you might want to do so soon, as I predict it'll be sold out everywhere by Christmas.
Another favorite of the fashion crowd is Anine Bing's Dylan coat, which seems to sell out every winter. The wool-and-cashmere-blend double-breasted coat is unlined and mid-weight, so it's a great option, in particular, if you live in a more mild climate.
This polished option from Reformation is great if you're seeking a camel coat that's on the shorter side. It adds a cool menswear vibe to your outfits, and it's heavyweight, so it'll keep you cozy.
Max Mara is known for its wildly luxurious camel coats, and this one is nothing short of stunning. The classic wrap coat is as timeless as it gets, and it's made of 100% camel hair (hence the not-for-the-faint-of-heart price).
If you love J.Crew's Lady Jackets but need something more substantial for the winter, I have good news: J.Crew made a coat version of the best seller. It's made of tweed and nips in at the waist, so it's a very flattering option. Just note that it's on the lightweight side, so layering or saving it for 40-degree-and-up days is advised.
One Toteme coat is simply not enough for a camel-coat roundup, so here's my other favorite from the brand. It's super oversize and soft and unique in that it doesn't tie at the waist or button, but the draped silhouette is beautiful over any outfit.
It doesn't get chicer than a classic trench, but they don't always provide enough warmth in the winter. COS made a polished wool trench coat, so you can have the distinctive look of one and the warmth. And in a genius move, the brand designed it with a detachable hood.
I instantly fell in love with this Mango coat because you can wear it draped, tied at the waist, or buttoned up as a funnel coat—a major trend this season. Who doesn't love options?
This stunning camel wrap coat is half the price of most wool-cashmere coats on the market, so that's something worth noting. Banana Republic sourced the fabric from Italy, so I'd bet that it's even more luxurious in person. This coat is never going out of style.
I'm always impressed with the quality of Other Stories coats, and this wool-blend one is no exception. It's clean and simple, with special details like exposed stitching on the collar.
If it's faux fur you're after, look no further than Apparis's Blair Coat. The ridiculously soft and cozy topper can easily be dressed up or down, and the rich shade makes every color in your closet look infinitely chicer.
If you want a coat that'll make all of your outfits look expensive but isn't budget-busting itself, Madewell's long, double-breasted coat is a great option. It's made of 100% wool and has slits and a waist tie, just like other camel coats on the market that are triple the price.
This is another one of my favorite Aritzia coats, and the name pretty much says it all—it's the only coat you need. Slightly more structured than the Slouch coat but still roomy enough to wear over a sweater, it'll keep you cozy down to -4ºF.
Last but not least, if you want something that's also appropriate for fall and spring, this expensive-looking shirt-jacket is the answer. It's made of ultra-soft double-faced wool, and its oversize-yet-structured fit will make anything it's paired with look forward.
