Believe it or not, we've reached the bittersweet ending of fashion month. While I truly enjoy stalking social media and my inbox for updates on New York, London, and Milan Fashion Week, Paris just always is on a completely different level. Several new trends emerge that take over my Instagram feed and eventually my closet for several months if not years. I also tend to walk away with dozens of outfits that I can't wait to copy.

This year, there's a lot to take in so put on your seatbelts. Our favorite French designers have been more daring than we've ever seen before. Their designs breathed life into the fashion space with high energy and excitement present at every show—ushering in shocking sheer moments, shorter-than-ever shorts, bright colors, and unique accessory choices. Sophisticated elegance was the common theme that tied the shows together, but instead of the stuffy feeling that we often associate with a higher level of fashion, think excitement, effortlessness, and versatility. You need to know the seven trends below.

At this point, we’re not strangers to leather. The edgy fabric has been soaking up the spotlight for some time now and is universally loved, but it's mainly appeared in more soft and feminine silhouettes in recent years. Well, the real deal is back and harder than ever with the return of heavy-duty leather. Paris Fashion Week designers are reviving the traditional motorcycle jacket, distressed leather materials, and even leather dresses and trench coats. Think a Chrome Hearts approach to fashion.

The spring/summer runways were doused in microskirts, so the anticipation for what would follow the shortest skirt we had ever seen since 2008 was quite the build-up. The fall/winter take on this trend is the micro shorts. Put your legs on display in a whole new way by taking a break from the Bermuda shorts that have been trending for quite some time and trying out short shorts. Style it just like the runways by pairing it with a pair of thigh-high boots or socks.

The next stage of the preppy trend has arrived, and it has me convinced to try something completely new. I am proud of myself for predicting this one—the runways really backed me up here. Adding a tie as a finishing touch to any outfit is such a chic way of completing the look. We went from prep school chic to being the CEO of the company. I’m all about that.

The theme of motorcycle jackets branches off into a league of its own with this sporty trend. All of the elements of motocross riders' gear have found their way onto the runway. Think added padding, color blocking, and more. You’ll also find retro sports elements like logos, shapes, and worn-out sneakers. Basically, we’re introducing the new athleisure here.

In a world full of neutrals, color is certainly on the rise right now and the best new way to wear it is by donning a bright and fun pair of tights. Each look you see above is elevated to a whole other level thanks to the addition of the colorful tights. It's an easy way to make an all-black look feel not so boring or add even more of a statement to that hot-pink dress you've been dying to wear.

I love my closet full of coats—like, a lot. But one thing that makes me love them, even more, is finding a new way to wear them. Adding a belt makes any coat feel like even more of a fashion statement. While attending New York Fashion Week this season, I wore an oversize men's coat with a statement belt and achieved this look so easily. It made a piece that many other people have feel different so I'll definitely be doing it again with the other outerwear in my closet.
