The Summer Trend I'm Just Wild About

This spring, I talked about my fascination with “nouveau milkmaid tops”—those delicate tops with pretty frills and ruffles you’re probably seeing everywhere at the moment. Man Repeller is also on board, boiling down the resurgence of the “somewhat archaic-seeming aesthetic” to a few possible reasons. They called out everything from “pretty white blouse mania” to “nightgowncore” to “prairiecore”—essentially a few micro-trends that have led to milkmaid pieces in the closets of fashion girls everywhere.

To me, one of the most interesting silhouettes that has arrived alongside these nouveau-milkmaid pieces is the sweetheart neckline. More and more, I’m seeing it pop up in top and dresses and even swimsuits. My theory is that it’s the evolution of last year’s bustier, but this time a little bit softer and more romantic. I’m certainly on board and have been adding the pieces to my summer wardrobe for the months to come. Ahead, shop my edit of pieces with sweetheart necklines.
