Prediction: Everyone Is Going to Dress Like 2010s Off-Duty Models This Year

I personally lived through the 2010s fashion scene, and there were some things that defined it that stood out both then and now. One thing that is undeniable is that it was a moment of "indie sleaze," when leather leggings, smudged eyeliner, and indie rock permeated fashion. Interestingly, Celine's recent runway show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles has reintroduced all of the above (and more) back onto the fashion scene for the coming year. This is just one moment where all signs pointed to the resurgence of 2010s style.

That isn't where it stops, though. Reflecting on the spring/summer 2023 runways, Lauren Santo Domingo also called out the impact of style from the early 2010s and how it will impact fashion in 2023. "For day-to-day life, I'll be taking cues from the 'model off duty' trend," Santo Domingo tellsBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing . "It's really about channeling that effortless, easy cool that harkens back to the original days of mass street style in the early '10s when photographers would lens models making their way between shows in their own casual attire—but with hair and makeup from the show." While many fashion conversations in the last year have centered around the comeback of Y2K fashion, it turns out the 2010s will be the throwback fashion to have your eye on in 2023. Ahead, see how we're expecting it to play out this year.

The late 2000s and early 2010s were marked by a time of slouchy bags, and it turns out they're making a comeback.

White Tank Tops

The casual-cool white tank top is poised to make a resurgence in 2023—not that it hasn't been a fixture in fashion throughout 2022. This time around, though, logo-adorned pieces are replaced by simple tanks paired with everything from leather pencil skirts to low-rise pants.

Leather Jackets

Sporty, oversize leather jackets are primed to be huge in 2023—no matter which variety. Aviators, racing styles, and motorcycle jackets are a few to have on your radar.

Cargo Pants

There isn't anything more "model off duty" than a great pair of cargo pants. Pair these with a white tank top to truly tap into 2010s fashion.

Leather Leggings

I'm still unsure if it's too early to call for the comeback of leather leggings, but their presence on the Celine runway makes me think there's a case for the trend.
