The Leather Jackets Carrie Bradshaw Loved Are Coming Back Into Fashion
If there's ever an inkling of a '90s trend revival, you know we're going to be all over it—particularly if it has a connection to Sex and The City. When it comes to leather jackets, rock 'n' roll bikers might have prevailed over the last decade, however, this season has seen the return of a quintessentially Carrie Bradshaw style. Characterized by an oversize boxy silhouette, button-up fastening, and statement collar, the '90s leather jacket is officially having a moment, and we couldn't be more excited.
Fast-forward 20 years, and thanks to brands such as Nanushka and Saks Potts, the fashion crowd is going mad for all things leather (dresses, skirts, trousers—you name it), and this has undoubtedly helped to inspire a return to more classic leather jacket styles. So how should we wear the trend now? While the likes of Carrie Bradshaw and Rachel Green liked to style theirs with cami dresses, tube tops, and low-slung jeans (those were the days), for 2018, we've seen influencers opting for luxe, head-to-toe leather ensembles.
The trick to making this look work is to mix up leather (or vegan leather) pieces in different hues. For example, you can try mixing tonal shades of brown for a '70s-inspired finish. The longer leather jacket styles also make for a great pairing with wardrobe basics, as seen on Anna Cornelia, who wore a knee-grazing leather jacket with a white shirt and trousers. Simple yet effective.

How The Fashion Girls Wear The Trend Now
Style Notes: A mid-length leather jacket will add an edge to your wardrobe basics, as proven by Anna Cornelia.
Style Notes: Turn heads with a head-to-leather look, as seen on this stylish street styler. Opt for separates in complementary colorways.
Style Notes: Another full-on leather look, but this time in contrasting black and pink. We like how the oversize jacket balances out the sweetness of the mini.
Style Notes: Lotte Williams wears the Cli Cli by Clio Peppiatt jacket we've been wanting since it dropped last month. The snakeskin print is very on trend.
Style Notes: A red leather Nanushka suit is the ultimate in statement dressing. Make like Vanessa Kong and accessorize with simple sliders.
