5 Accessory Trends You're Going to See a Lot of This Autumn
If you're anything like us, you've already spotted a pair (or three) of new-season boots you want. There may even be a winter coat you've got your heart set on (guilty again). If this sounds familiar, listen up. Of course, it's always advised to snap up new offerings as soon as they arrive to avoid the dreaded sellout once they become a cult item. Although we're already incorporating boots into our outfits, it's a bit too soon for coats and knits. (Note: Our editors have already dubbed the teddy-bear coat a favourite, FYI.)
Luckily, we have the answer to getting a new-season fix you can get the wear out of right away, and it comes in the form of autumn accessories. Most accessories aren't strictly for one season anyways, so this means although they're from certain drops, you can wear them anytime. We've already rounded up the best ones in our autumn/winter 2019 trend guide, and now, we've gone one step further and highlighted the ones you can shop now—from the handbag style the queen approves of to the boots and belts selling out quicker than we can chase them.
Say hello to the five autumn accessories you'll want to get your hands, feet, waists and necks on this season.
1. Frame Bags
The queen of England always carries a structured handle bag, and if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us all. Here, Beatrice teams her Charles Keith top-handle bag with an effortless tonal suit. Simple yet so effective.
We can always rely on Mulberry to create a bag we can envision carrying forever.
Ochre will be heading into your autumn wardrobes, too, so start with an accessory.
Like a lunch box, but classier.
2. Lace-Up Boots
Spotted all over the new-season luxury and high-street drops, it's all about the sleek lace-up ankle boots. Here, Jess is wearing the boots of the season—Manu Atelier's lace-up boots. If you're speedy, you can get your hands on the few remaining pairs. Luckily, we've found other options below in preparation for when they sell out.
These have sold out at record speed. Our sources have told us they're still in stock in store, though.
Add a splash of colour to your boot collection with help from Tabitha Simmons.
3. Chunky Chain Chokers
Seen all over the A/W 19 catwalks from the likes of J.W. Anderson, chunky chain necklaces are officially a thing. Ellie layers up her necklaces for a look that'll never fail. There's no such thing as OTT with this one.
We're seeing it with a crisp white shirt, straight-leg jeans and Velcro sandals.
For after dark or just a dressed-up daytime look, you'll find any excuse to wear this.
Rhinestones are everywhere this season, so this crystal beauty will fit right in.
4. Pouch Clutch Bags
Squishy, carry-all clutch bags are the way forward. Forget box clutches and dated classic clutches—these are the new grab bags courtesy of Bottega Veneta.
More colours are dropping soon, but this one is still in stock (if you're speedy).
It's kind of like carrying a pillow around with you. Need we say more? Thought not.
There's a new swoon-worthy The Row bag, and we can't stop staring at it.
Not only will people ask you where you got your bag from, but we can almost guarantee they'll want to touch it too.
5. Waist Belts
We all remember waist belts as the accessory of the noughties, but now they're back with a whole chic new look. Proving a waist belt can be the finishing touch to any outfit, Renata styles the Bottega Veneta belt of our dreams with all black. Classic, chic and effortlessly stylish.
Add this luxe suede beauty to a floaty floral maxi dress with knee-high boots.
Thick wrestler-style belts get the thumbs up.
Lime green will still be present in your wardrobe through the cooler months.
Animal prints are key for A/W 19, as is the Western theme. Combine the two for a winning accessory.
