Amanda Seyfried Is Knitting Her Own Sweaters, and We're Seriously Impressed

Call it cliché, but as autumn rolls around, there's something about a warm, cosy sweater that just seems so right. Whether it's in one of this season’s bright colours, or with pretty lettuce detailing, we know we’ll be adding a few sweaters to our collection this year—and we aren’t the only ones.

A few days ago, Amanda Seyfried posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a jumper that was downright cool. We couldn’t help but dream up a few autumn outfits her colourful statement sweater would look amazing with—so obviously, we wanted to figure out where we could buy one ourselves.

Plot twist: We can’t. Why not, you might be wondering? Lo and behold, the truth may surprise you: Seyfried knitted the sweater herself. Tagging knitting designer Stephen West in her post, Seyfried mentioned that she was about to start another pattern by the designer.

While the sweater itself isn’t available for purchase, you can buy the pattern online. It’s less than $10, and you can download it right to your laptop. If you have the time (or want to pick up a new hobby), this seems like a pretty good idea. Considering designer sweaters can be upwards of a few hundred dollars, the cost of the pattern, design, and knitting needles seems minimal. Knitting is also a good way to reduce stress, so maybe we should all consider this for a new weekend project. If it turns out well, you’ll get a cool new jumper in the process too. Keep scrolling to see how Seyfried documented her work in progress.
