I Never Liked This Colour Trend Until I Saw Other Stories' New Collection
With spring collections finally arriving in store, we are beginning to get a look at what the months ahead hold in terms of our outfits. There will be florals (of course), plenty of puff sleeves and, much to my surprise, an abundance of pastel shades.
I'll be honest—I've never been an avid fan of pastels, primarily because I tend to avoid anything that makes me look younger than my years. Though the new high-street collections just might have convinced me to try candy-coloured hues for the spring season.
Stories, in particular, has embraced pastels in a big way for the upcoming season, as soft hues have been used throughout much of its spring collection. From baby blue to cotton candy pink and pistachio green, it's clear the designers have very strategically opted for a pastel palette as we welcome the warmer weather. However, while historically, I might have been quick to write off the collection with fear of looking like I was an extra on the set of Taylor Swift's latest music video for "Me!," I have to say, &OS has made me change my tune.
The key is that the retailer has decided to pair pastel tones with otherwise structured clothing such as button-down shirts and tailored trousers. This way, the collection still feels polished, elevated and grown-up, despite using shades that can often feel quite young.
