From a French Jumpsuit to Après-Ski Knits, Here's What I Wore in Aspen
I spent 36 hours in Aspen and experienced a glimpse of what makes the one-of-a-kind mountain town a must-visit destination for celebs and winter sports enthusiasts alike. It’s a ski town unlike any I’ve visited with fashion at the center of it and the allure is instantly palpable. Unparalleled skiing. A distinct local culture. A Western-inspired sense of style that combines luxe ski attire with custom Kemo Sabe cowboy hats. Incredible shopping at local insider spots and designer brands, including the newly opened Fusalp boutique.
Founded in the French Alps in 1952, Fusalp is a heritage alpine brand known for its iconic skiwear that blends nostalgic design with cutting-edge technical fabrics. Design elements from the '60, '70s, and '80s including archival prints and silhouettes are central to the skiwear and designed in modern performance fabrics, blurring the lines between style and function. I got the chance to visit the just-opened Fusalp store and test-drove a range of designs to take me from skiing to après ski. Scroll on to see my Aspen outfits.
I immediately gravitated toward Fusalp's Clarisse Ski Suit. I was initially drawn to the design because of its nod to nostalgic ski suits from the '70s and '80s—in fact, it was inspired by pieces from the Maison's archive. On the slopes, I also appreciated its one-piece design since no cold air or snow was able to get inside—something that can be an issue when wearing a jacket and pants. As the name suggests, it is very warm and kept me toasty on the slopes despite the 0°F temperatures.
I layered a turtleneck body shirt and leggings underneath the ski suit to provide an extra layer of warmth. The pieces were extremely soft and warm yet breathable. They were also very thin so it didn't add any unnecessary bulk underneath my ski suit.
The first snow of the season arrived during the trip and the goggles made it easy to navigate the slopes.
For après ski, I built my look around Fusalp's Andromede sweater which incorporates a chevron pattern and tricolor appliqué that has been a symbol of the brand since 1952. I styled it with the Clea jacket, a piece constructed to wear on the slopes but the beautiful design makes it versatile to wear before and after. Every detail is stunning, including the soft faux-fur collar.
I styled the Clea jacket for another après ski look and incorporated yet another beautiful sweater. The Ancelle knit is finished with a ribbed fabric and turtleneck silhouette that can easily transition from ski to après ski.
