3 Under-$150 Things I Bought to Get Dressed Faster in the Morning
I don't know about you, but I'm not a morning person. I also love to sleep, so let's just say that getting dressed for work in the morning is not easy for me. I wish I were one of those people who laid out their outfit the night before, but I'm not that on top of it—just doing my best over here! Given this, I had previously found myself putting together outfits that weren't my favorite and experiencing extremely stressful mornings as I try to get out the door.
Once I came to this realization (and accepted that this is just who I am), I decided to strategize and implement a plan not to change who I am but to work within those confines. I identified a few key pieces in my wardrobe that I always found myself reaching for when I needed to put an outfit together in a pinch, and invested deeper into them. This way, I have multiple options in the styles that are basically the backbone of my wardrobe. Below, I've highlighted each piece and why it helps me get dressed faster (and better!) in the morning.
BLAZERS
The number one item I find myself reaching for over and over again in the morning when I'm pressed for time is a chic blazer. I just throw it on top of my go-to jeans and T-shirt and all of a sudden my outfit looks polished, despite the fact it took me five seconds to put together. It's a fashion item you'll wear for years, making it one of the safest fashion investments you can make. Plus, you can find good quality blazers at an affordable price thanks to retailers like Mango, Zara, and Pixie Market.
This set looks significantly more expensive than it is. Oh, and don't forget the matching skirt.
QUALITY T-SHIRTS
You can never have too many good T-shirts, and I find they're the building block of most of my outfits. Whether it's under a structured blazer, tucked into a chic slip skirt, or on top of my favorite jeans, T-shirts are one of the most used items in my wardrobe and the first item I grab when I get dressed in the morning.
STAPLE JEANS
Another building block of 99% of my outfits is always a good pair of jeans. Luckily for me I work in a creative office where jeans are office-appropriate, so when I'm having a mental block on outfit planning they're my go-to. I pair them with a pretty blouse, cool jacket, or aforementioned blazer for a quick outfit guaranteed to look good. And as you can probably tell if you've gotten this far into the article, my standby work outfit when I'm in a rush is jeans, a T-shirt, and a blazer—and it works every time.
