I Just Found the Coolest Chunky Boots to Invest in This Winter

If there's one item of clothing I wear the most during the winter months, it would have to be flat boots. Unlike my ever-growing jacket collection, I find that I tend to stick to one perfect pair, which I then go on to wear until they're literally falling apart at the seams. Yet for some reason, up until 2020, it's always been such a struggle to find a style which ticks all the boxes: I need them to be comfy, hard-wearing, not extortionately expensive and, of course, stylish.

However, thanks to Bottega Veneta, chunky boots have been flourishing over the last 12 months, and it's gone from being a niche shoe offering to something that is available in a variety of iterations from both high street and designer brands. There's so much to choose from: You've got the "extra" Chelsea boots, which typically come with dramatic calf-grazing height, classic lace-ups for those craving an '80s punk vibe, and of course, there's the "don't mess with me" XXL variety, inspired by Prada's viral Beatle boots.

These statement-making (yet no less practical) styles are your cold-weather answer to 2020's Velcro sandals (aka they're an easy way to give any outfit an edge). Throw some on with a floral dress and watch it become instantly more interesting, or elevate your fave jeans-and white-T-shirt pairing with a high-impact buckled pair.
