The Classic Boot Style Everyone Will Actually Wear This Fall
Although delicate satin Miu Miu ballet flats and Loewe nail polish heels are *still* on my wish list right now, it's safe to say that there's still an important place in my wardrobes these days for comfort and practicality. Don't get me wrong, I love a good over-the-top fashion moment as much as the next style person, but if you were to ask me what most people will actually be wearing out on the street and not just flaunting on their Instagram feeds, I'd have to say it's classic flat boots.
Call them boring, but the grip that flat boots currently have on fashion is undeniable. From leather knee-highs to lace-up combat boots, flat boots are having a moment. Thick gummy soles—also known as lug soles—are an especially trendy feature on this season's coolest boots. But it's the overall lack of a heel that I'd like to point out today. Oh, and not to mention that they're practical, too. Flat boots have been having a notable presence on the runways (see Loewe and Stella McCartney's collections). They were paired with everything from easygoing knit dresses to cool leather jackets, indicating their unmatched versatility.
Fresh off the heels of fashion month, it's already clear from the street-style scene that flat boots are making an impact in real life, too. For further proof that they're the most wearable (and, dare I say, best) boot style, scroll down to see the best runway and street-style looks. Then shop the best flat boots on the market, according to us.
On the Runways
Lug-sole bucket boots were the shoe of choice in a recent Chloe's collection, where they were styled in a refreshingly realistic way with wool coats and knit dresses.
Loewe's digital prints may have been the star of the show, but flat ankle boots helped ground the trickier silhouettes.
Chunky-sole boots have become a fixture at Ganni. This season the brand reimagined its signature with contrasting white stitching.
Biker boots continue to be a thing, according to Giambattista Valli, whose runway had edgy boots paired with delicate and pretty pieces.
On the Street
Contrast the practicality of flat boots with something more daring like an off-the-shoulder crop top.
According to the street-style scene in Paris, the way to wear flat boots this winter will be with a vibrant statement coat.
There's nothing the fashion set loves more than an outfit that's as soft as it is edgy. This pairing of a voluminous dress with tough boots is a winner.
While lug-sole ankle boots are pretty much a staple. This knee-high version is quickly gaining popularity right now.
An easy outfit you can copy over and over involves a trench coat, jeans, and flat boots.
This is a simple outfit formula that I plan on re-creating over and over again this fall.
What did I say earlier about statement coats and flat boots?
The thicker the soles, the better.
Chunky black boots are the perfect finish to a trendy look.
Proof that flat boots aren't just for the colder months.
I'm leaving you with this stunning leather ensemble to prove that you don't need any heels for your outfit to make an impact.
