Since My Boobs Got Bigger, This Is the Swimsuit That Suits Me the Most
If there's one piece of swimwear I've got a newfound love for, it's the one-shoulder swimsuit. My body changed last year when I had a baby, and while this is different for every woman, one thing I think most new mums can agree on is that your bust size changes. I’ve always been a C cup, but my bra size now firmly remains in the more-than-generous DD area. So with a holiday approaching, I wanted to find a great swimsuit that still gives me support.
Which is where the one-shoulder costume comes in. Half sass, half practical, somehow, slipping on this style of suit makes me feel full of confidence. I think it's because it shows off my favourite area—the clavicle—and draws the eye up to the shoulder and face (away from my chest) but still gives me support. And if a rogue baby hand tries to pull at my top, there’s still another part of the costume attached to my shoulder to keep it (mostly) in place.
The other beauty about this swimming costume style is that whether you're going for a full-on leopard print look or just a simple colour, it still manages to appear effortlessly chic. It's also a great beach-to-bar option, as where a two-strap suit under trousers or a skirt looks like you're wearing exactly that, a one-shoulder option can easily masquerade as a cool top. All you'd need to do is add a chunky pair of earrings and strappy heels. And I'm clearly not alone in my appreciation—changing body shape and baby or not, many women I follow on Instagram are opting for this swimsuit trend in 2019.
Of course, to really know what I'm talking about, you just need to see my edit of the best one-shoulder swimsuits. While there are the usual investment pieces from luxury brands, I've also included plenty of affordable high-street options as in my experience these can be just as stylish.
Such a great colour combo when you don't want to go for black but want something more muted.
A slightly sneaky option: There's a small second strap but you can tuck that in for the full one-shoulder effect.
A colour that looks incredible with a tan.
