This Sunglasses Trend Is Set to Be Huge in 2025
Whether you're ready for their return or not prepared to commit, oversize sunglasses are on their way to a monumental comeback, with the brands on every fashion person's lips right now (Saint Laurent, Chloé, Chanel, Gucci, etc.) putting aside their affinity for moderate eyewear in favor of styles of the larger variety. And now that their stance on the subject's been solidified on the spring 2025 runways, there's no turning back.
It's an interesting moment to see the upswing in oversize sunglasses silhouettes. In part, we're seeing a return to style from the '60s, when Jackie O put large frames on the map, so it isn't surprising to see their return along with other styles from the decade. Additionally, we're seeing the pendulum swing away from the pieces that have been popular in recent years. Elegance is replacing logo mania. Maximalism is replacing minimalism. It only make sense that oversize sunglasses are now replacing microscopic frames. The oversize styles rising the ranks ahead of 2025 are simply more impactful sartorially speaking. Scroll down to see their return for yourself.
Saint Laurent
Ever since the first Saint Laurent show debuted, the brand's eyewear has been at the forefront of conversations among the fashion set.
Chloé
Of all of the buzzy accessories on the Chloé runway, the oversize sunglasses are the ones to keep your eye on for spring 2025.
Gucci
Gucci's spring 2025 collection was partly inspired by Jackie O, so it's no surprise that her signature oversize sunglasses made an appearance on the runway.

Giorgio Armani
The large sunnies at Saint Laurent's S/S 24 show were but one aspect of the French label's ongoing '80s push.
Chanel
Given how ever present Chanel sunglasses are on among the fashion set, it should come as no surprise the fashion house would showcase styles that tap into the rising trend.
Stella McCartney
Big sunglasses are a power move, plain and simple. Just look at this Stella McCartney look, power shoulder pads and all. It's great on its own, but the addition of these large sunnies really adds to its impact.
