I Tried 21 Under-$100 New-Season Pieces From H&M, Other Stories, andReplica Store

It’s about that time of the year when I’m craving something new. It usually happens at the end of January, when all my favorite retailers start trickling out a bunch of exciting new-season pieces (fresh for spring yet easy enough to wear now)—altogether convincing me that my black-turtleneck-laden winter wardrobe needs a vital refresh.

So this week, I headed to some of my favorite stores—Nordstrom, Other Stories, and H&M (all known for their trendy and affordable selection) to try on some of the coolest new arrivals of the season—and get my transitional winter-to-spring-wardrobe off to a chic start. Because I’m trying to save some serious pennies this year for a European getaway, I made sure to keep all my picks under $100. Twenty-one changes later and these 13 below officially made the cut.

Scroll below to see some of the pieces I took home with me, and if you’re so inclined, they may go home with you too.

I love this blouse with a capital L! It's fits beautifully, it feels expensive, and it hits some of this season's big trends—puff shoulders, peplum silhouette, and polka dots. It's just the right piece my day-to-night work wardrobe needs.

I've been looking for a fresh new knit to uplift me through winter and ease me into spring. This pretty alpaca sweater fits the bill perfectly. The minty green hue nails one of this season's biggest color trends and the polo silhouette is one we saw all over the spring runways. It also comes is a versatile cream color.

I'm really into wide leg tailored trousers right now—a big trend for spring 2020. I was so surprised at how luxurious and expensive these felt. Moreover, they hung beautifully.

I'm wearing the above pants with this gorgeous-feeling, sleek, and minimal turtleneck sweater—a welcome new basic to my winter-to-spring wardrobe. Not only is this sweater timeless, but I love the silky feel of it, and its slightly oversize fit. It's not always easy to find really great quality, soft sweaters for under $100, so I think this one is a real gem of a find.

This cute organic button-down top is quickly becoming one of my weekend favorites to wear with high-waisted jeans. It has a vintage feel—playing into spring's prevalent '70s trend.

I am really into shackets right now (shirt-jacket hybrids). They not only look so effortlessly cool, but they serve as a great layering piece over turtlenecks and under overcoats. They are literally everywhere I turn, and I want in on the action. This leather shacket is the perfect initiation. The beige hue is very on trend (colored leather is big for spring 2020) and it has handy pockets. Plus, it looks way more expensive than its $50 price tag.

I'm always looking for chic alternatives to my jeans that I can easily pair with my sweaters and boots. This silky midi skirt is a perfect option. It fits beautifully and hits one of spring 2020's biggest trends—polka dots.

As you will probably see from most of the products I'm featuring from H&M, its jacket game is really strong right now—from its shackets to its blazers and its trench coats. This blazer may look pretty basic but it's actually my favorite piece I picked up at H&M. It looks so expensive, and the slightly oversize silhouette feels fresh and of the moment. This does run big compared to H&M's usual sizing, so I would recommend sizing down.

Another H&M blazer for the win! This polished plaid blazer feels fresh, sprightly, and modern, with a spring-forward touch. I'll be pairing this over an off-white turtleneck and jeans throughout winter, and with a basic white tee come spring.

It's all about statement sleeves in 2020. Puff sleeves, in particular continue to reign supreme. This cool black statement top is silky to the touch and is versatile enough to wear for work, the weekend, and a fun night out.

Topshop's pant game is strong this season. I've been on the hunt for a cool pair of relaxed tailored trousers that don't break the bank—and these are the perfect fit. I'm in love with the dusty blue hue.

Cute, cropped cardigans are having a major moment right now (and unquestionably, a french girl favorite)—spotted all over our feeds. This soft and cozy one has major vintage vibes and is the perfect year-round staple. Just add your high-waisted jeans.

Loose-fitting, long-sleeve, billowy dresses are a major trend for spring 2020, and I can't wait to wear this breezy floral one with lug sole combat boots throughout winter and with minimalist sandals once the temps start to rise.
