When I was younger, my shopping habits were almost solely trend- and event-driven. I was making purchases thinking only about what was right in front of me—either an event I was attending in the near future or a trend I was suddenly seeing everywhere. As irresponsible as it sounds, I never gave much thought to the longevity of the piece I was purchasing.
