7 Chic Trouser Styles Fashion People Across Europe Are Wearing Before Committing to Dresses This Spring
Harriet Davey
As much as the first signs of spring make us all want to break out our linen dresses and denim shorts, the season doesn't always deliver when it comes to weather. That's why I'm so pleased to see trousers dominating spring trends this year. Really, I couldn't be happier. While I thought it was maybe just me being more receptive to the trends I personally like, that's not the case this spring.
Trousers have apparently inserted themselves into our collective fashion consciousness and refuse to go anywhere, as this year's spring/summer trends prove once again. They took over the runways and that's now being reflected in real time, with some of my favourite influencers across Europe also opting for trousers over dresses right now. In fact, I've worked out that some of the most stylish people going are considering one of seven core trouser styles this spring, all of which I've noted below for you. From the colour to know about to incredibly chic silhouettes, these are the best spring trousers for 2025, according to influencers, designers and, well, me, a fashion editor. You're welcome!
The Best Trousers for Spring 2025:
1. Satin Trousers
Style Notes: AtBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , we collectively fell in love with satin trousers last year, and this season, they're set to be bigger than ever. A great alternative to linen while it isn't peak summer, this material has the habit of making any cut or colour look instantly premium.
Shop the Look:
Satin effortlessly elevates an otherwise plain pair of trousers.
Yes, yes and yes to a pair with an elasticated waist.
2. Wide-Leg Trousers
Style Notes: The styling options are boundless for this versatile shape, and I would struggle to know what to wear on a daily basis without owning multiple wide-leg pairs. Whether you style with ballet flats, loafers or sandals, they have a habit of always looking chic.
Shop the Look:
3. Butter Yellow
Style Notes: Hands up if you've fallen straight back in love with the butter yellow trend? Key around this time last year, the shade has made its way back into our wardrobes for S/S 25, and I'm not mad about it. Instead of harsh white, I'll be looking for soft creamy shades to wear with all my tonal seperates.
Shop the Look:
You'll be grateful for this lightweight pair during the warmer months.
This linen wide-leg style will be your go-to for spring and summer.
4. Low-Rise Trousers
Style Notes: In a nod to the noughties, low-waist trousers are back with a bang. Fitted T-shirts seem to be the most popular styling choice, but I've also seen this silhouette bravely teamed with ultra-crop tops.
Shop the Look:
Low-waisted trousers don't necessitate showing more skin—try styling these with a silky top tucked in.
5. Barrel-Leg
Style Notes: The silouette of the year, or even last few years, is bigger (quite literally) than ever this season. The voluminous barrel leg is not only taking over denim, but all types of trousers, too. I'm seeing a lot of chino styles having the puffy shape and I love how it looks with a more streamline top to really make the trousers the star of the show.
Shop the Look:
The barrel leg makes these trousers feel very 2025.
This colour will go with absolutely everything in your wardrobe.
6. Checked Gingham
Style Notes: While cow, zebra, cheetah and every other form of animal print is dominating most wardrobes right now, checks are the underdog about to get big for spring. Ease yourself into the trend with a pair of checked trousers, in any style, and team with wardrobe basics to or matchy-matchy pieces to keep it chic.
Shop the Look:
Palazzo pants are also a mini trend so you'll be ticking off two trends in one with this pair.
7. Slim-Leg Trousers
Style Notes: Good news if you're already a slim-leg devotee: this tried-and-tested style has been given a new lease of life for spring 2025. Not only is the cut super flattering, but it's also incredibly easy to build outfits around.
Shop the Look:
I can't stop wearing chocolate brown, and I'm not the only one.
