How Fashion-y People Will Reinvent Bike Shorts in 2019
While the bike-shorts trend may have seemed to peak in 2018, its omnipresence on the S/S 19 runways as well as continued traction in street style suggests that the athletic-inspired piece will continue to play a key role in the coming seasons. And I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that an endorsement from the likes of Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Jacquemus, and Maryam Nassir Zadeh goes a long way, but in case you didn’t know—it does.
So what will the trend look like in 2019? Well, thanks to Instagram, I have some guesses. In the short window of time between the S/S 19 shows and the oncoming winter temperature drop, there have been a slew of inspiring bike-shorts looks I’m definitely going to be testing out as soon as the weather allows (yeah, possibly early 2019). After all, who better to set the tone for the coming year than the fashion girls we all love to follow?
Among the many looks, there are of course some key styling micro-trends of their own too. Expect oversize jackets (and shackets), some surprisingly evening-ready ensembles, as well as a return to the sporty roots of the trend itself. Just continue on to see for yourself; then shop my favorite bike shorts on the market right now.
This weekend-ready look feels special thanks to the apt sock and handbag styling.
Try belting a blouse under a blazer once and it might become your new favorite styling trick.
If this isn't a forward way to do evening dressing, I truly don't know what is.
I'm taking notes on this belt situation, as well as the monochrome approach that seems to be catching on.
Shacket, socks, sandals—a winning combo, it seems.
Sporty, but with a fashion twist thanks to the polo.
Remember what I said about monochrome?
Another night-out look I’ll definitely be adding to the docket.
It’s clear why the belted blazer and bike shorts look is among the most popular styling tricks to emerge lately.
Whether or not I actually go to the gym, I’ll be wearing this (belt bag included) on weekends.
Full-on cowboy boots take the look to another level of cool.
Chain belt for the win.
This outfit is enough to get me to go out and buy a pair of knee boots, HBU?

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
