I'm American and Asked 5 French and British Girls for Their 2022 Fashion Tips

Despite the fact that I was born and bred in America, a majority of my fashion inspiration comes from the international style set. Don't get me wrong—I love looking at what everyone from L.A. to NYC is wearing, but there's just something about international fashion trends that gets me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. There are two fashion cities Americans are quite obsessed with when it comes to sartorial opinions: London and Paris. Here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , my fellow editors are always tapping into what the British and French are prioritizing in their wardrobes, and I'm always quick to read their answers. From what they're buying to what they're skipping, I want to know the juicy details.

There are a variety of trends that are bound to get big this year, so I decided to reach out to a few of my favorite French and British fashion girls myself and see what they're buying this season. Not only did they give me their style tips and favorite 2022 trends, but they also shared how they would wear them with the pieces they already own. Needless to say, I'm inspired. Keep scrolling to read their answers, and shop the trends below.

#1 Style Tip: "Always think about balance when putting an outfit together, and pair an oversize piece like a boxy blazer with more tailored pieces for a flattering look."

Oversize Suiting

"I feel like an oversize suit is both comfy and super chic and makes you feel really put together with actually not much effort at all! It's also something I have and will be wearing for a long time to come, so a good investment I'd say!"

Micro Minis

"I have always been a mini fan (Jane Birkin wannabe over here), so I'm definitely a fan of all of the miniskirts and dresses we've been seeing nonstop."

#1 Style Tip: "Don't be afraid to try a style, trend, or wear something once. You owe it to yourself to experiment and find out what works for you—not be told what works for you."

Saturated Shades

"Perfectly summed up by Tom Ford in this Who What Wear UK article, 'Loud! Bright! Daring! Revealing! If it's not turning heads or garnering likes, it's clearly not extra enough.' That's the trend and vibe I'm following this year!"

#1 Style Tip: "Don't be afraid to experiment! A glance at my page will tell you I take this statement very seriously. Although my style is predominantly minimal, I like to also add color and streetwear. I love taking on new challenges when it comes to fashion while maintaining my wardrobe staples."

Platform Heels

"Being 5'10.5, I should have no interest in wearing five- or six-inch heels, but I absolutely love the versatility of these shoes. Not only are they the perfect party shoes (comfortable too), but they also can be worn in the day for meetings or brunch with a tailored suit."

Clogs

"Clogs are the marmite of fashion. Most people I know and ask are not fans, but I am. I have been a clog lover since 2009, and I'm so happy that they are making a return in different colors and styles. This will continue to be a staple in my wardrobe, as it pairs perfectly with a range of outfits from leggings, a quilted jacket and a cowboy hat to wide-leg straight jeans, a white T-shirt and a chunky cardigan."

Colorful Bags

"I find that this accessory is great to add a pop of color to your outfit, especially if you're like me and tend to stick to neutral looks."

#1 Style Tip: "Following trends is good, but in small doses is better. You can experiment, but to me, simplicity is the chicest way to have your own style. Wear what makes you feel good."

Crochet

"Trendy but always timeless, crochet is in the spotlight once again—a bohemian garment that is worn in an offbeat way today. Do not hesitate to play on an effortlessly chic silhouette.

"I would wear crochet with an oversized blazer and a pair of sneakers or flat sandals during the day and heels at night with big jewels."

Colorblocking

"Allow yourself all the flashy colors. Do not hesitate to marry them together or to wear them in minimalist monochrome. Think bright orange, fuchsia pinks, greens, all the colors that lift your spirits."

#1 Style Tip: "My number one fashion tip is to have fun! Fashion is all about embracing your style and showing the world your unique personality."

Sultry Details

"I think French women love to add a little bit of sultry details to their outfits. I've been seeing a lot of bra tops, cutout dresses, miniskirts, sheer fabrics, and I’m all here for it."

'60s Vibes

"I just love the retro and '60s inspirations that we saw on the S/S 22 runway collections. Think miniskirts, colorblocking patterns, and halter details. I just love the style of that era and can’t wait to include some retro-inspired pieces into my wardrobe. I was also really inspired by the '60s for the new capsule collection of my brand, Maison Solen."
