These 11 Celebrities Are Already Influencing How I Dress in 2020
I'll be the first to admit that it's a little odd that we often look to celebrities for their style secrets. I mean, most have a stylist on hand to help them get dressed in the chicest of outfits, so it's no surprise that they look great. But that doesn't mean we can't get inspiration from them. Think of it this way: the A-listers get dressed by super-chic stylists, and you get to reap the benefits of the stylist's ideas by nabbing the tricks once the celeb has been photographed. It's rather cost-effective.
For 2020, there are a load of celebrities that we're going to be looking to in order to give our wardrobes a makeover. It doesn't mean that you have to go out and buy new stuff, but it'll give you the inspiration to switch up your style. Maybe there's a colour combination you haven't thought of before or perhaps you've had a dress in your wardrobe you haven't had the confidence to wear. From Katie Holmes and Jennifer Aniston to Lucy Boynton and Yara Shahidi, we've got 11 celebrities we'll be looking to all year to help us get dressed. Your wardrobe won't know what hit it.
Katie Holmes
Who knew that Katie Holmes would be one of our best-dressed celebrities of 2019? It's not that she didn't look good before but she really upped her game wearing some of the hottest labels such as Khaite last year. And we predict her fashion star will continue to rise in 2020.
Sure, she might always wow on the red carpet. But it's her more dressed-down looks of jeans and a great jacket that are pitched just right.
Tracee Ellis Ross
There's one word to describe how Tracee Ellis Ross dresses and that's fabulous. She often goes for pops of colour and in big and bold silhouettes.
If you're looking for ways to inject some happiness into your wardrobe for 2020, then Tracee is your woman.
Bel Powley
British actress Bel Powley has been in the industry for a long time, but its her recent appearance in The Morning Show that made us sit up and notice her style.
She's not afraid of a more left-field look and often goes for frills, plunging necklines and fun colours. One highlight already for us in 2020 is seeing Bel in her Miu Miu gown at the Golden Globes.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson is somehow able to do both Hollywood bombshell and also dress like your preppy best friend.
On the red carpet, she's no stranger to a sassy thigh-high split, but when it comes to dressing down, she's just as much a lover of jeans as we are.
Yara Shahidi
What isn't there to love about Yara Shahidi's style? She gets it right every single time. Somehow, she's able to experiment with silhouettes, like wide-leg trousers and oversized jackets, and makes it look as chic as Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy dress.
She's also great for combining great textures—see a fluffy jumper with satin trousers. Dreamy.
Zoë Kravitz
Is there anyone cooler than Zoë Kravitz right now? I'd wager probably not. But I guess that's what you get when you're the offspring of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravtiz.
The actress does louche dressed-down ensembles but makes it feel fashion just by adding some fluorescent trousers. Then for red carpets, she sticks to more classic styling and often opts for dresses. Her real trick, however, is to make sure she never overcomplicates a look.
Lucy Boynton
If you've even only watched an episode of The Politician, you'll know that Lucy Boynton's character, Astrid, has the most phenomenal wardrobe.
While usually it can be disappointing to discover the star playing such a fashionable character isn't similarly inclined, we're here to tell you that this is not the case with Lucy. Often in vintage-inspired styles and always in bold colours and prints, Lucy is one to watch when it comes to fashion.
Jennifer Aniston
Yes, Jen An only wears black, but we're okay with it. Sometimes, you need to just wear something that you know will look good, and that is quite often a black dress. So look to the star for pared-back inspiration for the year ahead.
It's not just black dresses she loves, it's also black sandals, so take note on the simple styles she loves.
Tessa Thompson
If in 2020 you want to make your wardrobe feel fresher and more fun, might we direct you to actress Tessa Thompson's style? Often wearing a minidress with bold shoes, she's the inspo you didn't know you needed.
Sparkling shoes and a vinyl skirt and jacket. Why not?
Jodie Smith
Actress Jodie Smith is currently staring in Queen Slim and has such great elegant style.
Floor-length dresses are often her thing, but she likes to pair them with interesting accessories, such as a hat or lace-up sandals, to make her take on style feel truly unique.
Zoey Deutch
There's nothing we love more than a great red carpet dress, especially one that comes in such a striking colour. Zoey Deutch's Golden Globes Fendi gown was one of our favourites of the night.
She's also great at pairing jeans with a jacket and a fabulous bag. We will be channelling this combo for the foreseeable future.
