6 Ways J.Lo, Cindy Crawford, and Other Celebs Make Flip-Flops Look Cool

Growing up in San Diego, there was no question that flip-flops were acceptable footwear even if you're nowhere near the beach. When I became a fashion editor, however, I realized that people have strong opinions about the humble flip-flop. Many people shun the shoes in favor of more chic styles like strappy sandals or mules. But when you've got a handful of stylish celebrities endorsing the style, there should be no doubt that flip-flops can look just as cool as any other shoe.

Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Ana de Armas were on the same page when it comes to styling flip-flops: They've all worn them with flowy white dresses for summer. Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens opted for a colorful crochet dress, Cindy Crawford went with a classic LBD, and Naomi Watts paired her flip-flops with wide-leg jeans. Scroll down to shop their outfits.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
