Katie Holmes Wore the Controversial Trend That Will Rule in 2020

Fashion's reigning celebrity It girl Katie Holmes is at it again, and if you trust in her trend-forecasting capabilities (and maybe you should), you'll want to see this. There was a lot of chatter post fashion month about the prevalence of showgoers wearing very long, very baggy shorts (aka culottes). (Kate Middleton is also a fan of the trend, although hers are typically more pant-like.) For some, the trend can be a bit hard to swallow—we get it, but Holmes proved that it can actually be quite wearable.
To attend the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in NYC over the weekend, Holmes went all in on the trend, opting for a pair of oversize leather shorts by Frame. To ensure that the trend was winter-friendly, she paired them with knee-high boots by Khaite (her favorite brand, clearly) and a Max Mara Teddy Coat that she's been wearing on repeat lately (can't blame her).
Given that street style trends are such a strong predictor of what will hit the mainstream in the next season plus the fact that Katie Holmes is currently on the cusp of what's cool, don't say we didn't warn you when this trend is everywhere come 2020.
