Go Big or Go Home: The Absolute Boldest Summer 2022 Trends
Writing about summer 2022 fashion has had me running to Thesaurus.com to look up all the synonyms of "bold" to describe the trends (my favorites include "audacious," "gutsy," "nervy," and "daring"). Listen, I'll admit that I'm not much of a risk-taker when it comes to my own wardrobe, but that doesn't mean I don't know an excellent head-turning trend when I see one!
Below, I rounded up a trio of the biggest and boldest pieces of the season. They might not be for everyone and that's totally okay. I, for one, won't be participating in the sky-high platform shoe trend because I'd feel positively unwieldy with six inches added to my 5'10" frame. But that's the beauty of fashion: One person's trash is another person's treasure. Okay, I probably should have found a prettier metaphor, but you get the idea. Scroll down to shop the go-big-or-go-home trends of summer 2022.
1. Exaggerated Platforms
These shoes aren't quite as sky-high as some other styles, so they're a great entry point.
The same shoes as above also come in this lovely wine color.
I can just picture Bella Hadid wearing these with a very 2000s outfit.
I owned a pair of platform flip-flops in 6th grade and was sadly never bold enough to wear them.
2. Highlighter Colors
On Anne Hathaway: Valentino outfit; Bulgari jewelry
You can also tone this dress town with a classic denim jacket.
3. Low-Rise Micro Miniskirts
This daring look combines two of the trends on my list: platforms and a mini skirt.

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 14 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Kate and Meghan stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible.
