At Dior’s S/S 19 couture show, the brand’s artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, cited the circus as her point of inspiration. Elements of the theme were evident everywhere, from the couture pieces on the runway to the beauty look to the theatrical set design. The brand took everyone through a striped tent into the Dior circus, complete with acrobats who performed for the audience and among the models walking down the runway.

THE NEW IT SHOE STYLE

Glitter boots are the shoe trend that Instagram loves, and Dior just gave them an upgrade. The pairs that debuted on the runway were adorned with red and blue stars that adhere to the show's circus theme. Prepare to see these on the fashion set over the next six months.

For Dior's S/S 19 couture show, Maria Grazia Chiuri started with the circus, a point of inspiration that has a long history for the brand. The show itself was held inside a circus tent where acrobats performed alongside models walking down the runway.

THE NEXT ITERATION OF SUITING

Strong suiting has been one of the most consistent trends over the last few seasons. Instead of wool blazers or oversize pantsuits like we've been seeing from other designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri sent out expertly tailored tailcoats and tuxedo-inspired pieces that feel like a luxe alternative to eveningwear.

OFFICIALLY IN: PUNK GRAPHIC EYES

For the beauty look at Dior couture, Creative and Image Director Peter Philips interpreted the circus theme with a makeup look that focused on the eyes. "I chose a dark and graphic messy look with a pattern that blends a punk aesthetic with a dreamy Pierrot feel," Philips explained. "All the emphasis was on the eyes, which are intriguing and draw you in." At Chanel's S/S 19 couture show, punk eyes were similarly the focus of the makeup look, so we can expect to see plenty more of the graphic black look.

To create the bold black eyes, Philips applied Diorshow On Stage Liquid Eyeliner #091 and then softened it using Long-Wear Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil #094 to create a blurred effect. The eyes were then finished with Diorshow Khôl #099 on the lower lash line.
