Emma Roberts and the Petite-Girl Way to Wear Stripes

Knowing what to wear when you're short takes a lifetime of testing and learning—I would know being 5'1". So I always applaud the pint-size actress Emma Roberts for managing to get the proportions of her outfits—and the shoes to go with them—right every time. Another case in point cropped up on the photo agencies this morning, with the newly blonde star taking to the streets of L.A. looking all kinds of sweet in a striped set of co-ords.

Stripes, like blocks of colour, are often best worn uniformly to look most flattering. So Emma has taken the right tack here to opt for a matching miniskirt and crop top. The short hemlines and thin lines of these striped, retro-looking pieces also help keep your small frame in the frame, rather than being swamped in print. Add in a pair of neutral mules with a midi heel (any girl's best friend when it comes to making thigh-baring hemlines look chic), et voilá, a Roberts-approved summer ensemble we can all learn a thing or two from, petite or not.
