Millennials Are Buying This Style of Engagement Ring

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of engagement ring options? Us too. And if you're curious what people are actually buying right now, we have an answer. Bloomberg tapped experts to share their findings of what millennials, in particular, are looking for, and the answer might surprise you (or not): They're nixing mass-market brands in favor of vintage and custom rings.

"We're seeing millennials want something that no one else has," Casey Sullivan, co-founder of jewelry e-consigner Gleem Co, told Bloomberg. "They want something different that they identify with."

Bloomberg also tapped Kieron Hodgson, an analyst at Panmure Gordon Co., who told the website why conventional diamonds are being replaced by vintage or custom versions. "The generation that doesn't want to show up to a party wearing the same dress as anyone else also wants to put on a different ring," he explained. Are you in the same boat?

Head over to Bloomberg to learn about the rest of the fascinating findings, and scroll down to shop our favorite vintage-inspired engagement rings.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
