5 Fall Trends That Aren't Worth Your Money
It's fact: Trends are cyclical. And because of their nature to return time and again, there are also seasons when certain silhouettes, colors, patterns, etc. just feel less than exciting. We can think of five of them when it comes to fall 2018.
The below trends have had their moments in the sun over the course of the past few years, and chances are they'll return a few seasons down the line. For the time being, however, we're kindly putting them on the back burner. And should you like a little direction as far as where your hard-earned fall shopping budget is best spent—if you're prioritizing the newest It items and timeless pieces—we've got that covered as well.
Keep scrolling for the trends we're not exactly saying goodbye to. It's more like "see you later."
As much as our eyes might have enjoyed these unapologetically over-the-top, colorful creations, they're not quite indicative of the fuzzy toppers we suspect will be a popular choice this fall.
Instead Try: Retro-Inspired Styles
Who doesn't love a dramatic sleeve, right? But in truth, these way-too-long styles that made it impossible to find anything in your handbag or swipe a Metrocard are not what we're looking forward to this fall. Instead this season, we're returning to clean, practical, grounded pieces that will arguably never go out of style.
Instead Try: Polished Practicality
The return of '90s style ushered in chokers—a lot of them and in varying degrees of drama. We appreciate the drama, but we're shifting focus a bit.
Instead Try: Statement Earrings
While certainly fun to wear, these piles and drapes of ruffles are not how fall 2018 prefers to be extra. Instead, we're looking to the '80s for inspiration on how to embellish a look with shiny fabrics, sequins, and powerful silhouettes.
Instead Try: Wham Bam '80s Glam
Novelty handbags with embellishments and in unique sizes will be sticking around, but again, who really has time for a handbag that's only really appreciated in a photo and barely holds a one's essentials? Now, with the recent massive return of Dior's Saddle Bag, we think a different approach may be in order.
Instead Try: Iconic Logo Bags
Up next, I saved 83 pictures of gold jewelry on my Instagram, but these are the top 16.
