13 Trends the Absolute Coolest Girls in Fashion Are Into This Spring

It seems as though seasons have been passing in the blink of an eye. Per usual, spring has sprung without any warning or notice, besides from our good ol' friend Mr. Groundhog. This season, like every season, has left me with one question: Which trend should I try? It’s time to purge our closets and make room for a new wardrobe, so let’s go through all the essentials you’re going to want to stock up on this season.

With F/W 19 runway trends fresh on our minds after New York, London, Milan, and Paris, I want to backtrack to all of the trends and inspiration that we saw during the S/S 19 shows now that spring is finally here. I figured the best way to do this was to chat with some of my closest friends and greatest sources of fashion inspiration to see what they have to say about the spring trends they are most looking forward to.

To kick off the trend train, here is what I will be swearing by this season:

As I saw on the runways, the louder the color, the better. I also noted a stark contrast from neon with hints of pastel this season. Texture play will be king for spring (in case some further inspo is needed, turn to Marc Jacobs S/S 19) including feathers, fur, and fringe, giving your look an elevated touch while adding dimension and shape. All things printed are welcome: Mismatched prints, kitschy prints, and basically any print your dad would probably wear on vacation is valid for this one. Lastly, florals—bonus points if they’re vintage prints or '80s-themed.

Aside from these trends, accessories will reign supreme this spring and summer—jewelry, belts, scarves, chains, clips… You name it! Oversize accessories will make just the statement you need. Think big padded headbands, collar chokers, oversize shades, and more. On the other teeny-tiny side of the spectrum, we have sweetheart bags. The tiny and more impractical, the better. Just look to fan-favorite brand Jacquemus for proof.

Needless to say, if you’re in need of some alternative trend inspiration, from New York to L.A., see what these fashion insiders have to say. You’ll be sure to leave with a full spectrum of spring trends to buy. I promise—there's no shortage of inspiration here. Scroll through below.

"I'm a big fan of suiting, but even more so when it's a full tonal look. There's something that soothes my mind when I’m all in one color and feels easy to incorporate into my everyday wardrobe. Additionally, as a born-and-raised Cali girl, this trend couldn’t make me any happier. I love seeing tie-dye creep its way into streetwear from colorful shoes to all infamous Proenza Schouler tees."

"I don't really like to follow trends too much. I just like to wear what makes me happy! I'm looking forward to wearing bright colors/sneakers and wide-brim bucket hats in the sun this season."

"Although I've happily lived in my larger-than-life puffer coats this winter, I have to admit that I'm excited to shed some layers and finally show some skin this spring! I can't wait to slip into some barely there, floss-like sandals specifically a pair I've been eyeing from Alexander Wang. Also, I've been really big on color and pattern mixing recently and feel this way of dressing will make its way into my spring wardrobe. Asai Takeaway's Hot Wok tops will be the base of every outfit, to say the least!"

"I can’t stop thinking about wearing tie-dye. I’m also finding myself very invested in all things cow print. I’m very excited for my spring wardrobe to read like a hippie cowgirl."

"Really looking forward to rocking some socks and tights with all variations of shoes and pant lengths. Also a trend I can’t wait to see go are the Triple S Balenciaga. The trend would be to let it go, leave it at the consignment shop, and use the money for something else!"

"I'm all about a skirt suit. It's a no-brainer outfit that looks so put-together no matter what. Plus, you can wear the pieces separately, too. I'll definitely be living in them this spring. I'm also really looking forward to some Bermuda shorts and capris; they may be divisive trends, but I'm fully down with both lengths. With an easy tee and a sandal or sneaker, that'll be my laid-back spring uniform."
