So, we’re officially closer to the end of December than we are to its start. Can you believe 2018 is almost over? Before we know it, it will be January, and we’ll be getting the year wrong every time we have to write out the date. Naturally, this is the season to reflect your mistakes of months past, or resolutions for those to come, depending on how you want to look at it. For us, it’s a bit of a mix of both (when it comes to fashion, at least), and today we thought we’d share what the style habits we’re hoping to give up in the New Year, in case you’re looking for a little resolution inspo.

From ignoring tailoring to buying the same pieces over and over again, read about the fashion mistakes our editors are hoping to give up in 2019 below, and do a little shopping along the way.

“After years of investing in stiff 100% cotton jeans, it’s come to the point where I own very few jeans that are actually comfortable anymore. I plan on diversifying my denim collection more in 2019, starting with these two straight-leg stretch pairs.”

I tend to buy the same types of items over and over again such as jeans, tees, and boots, because that’s what I like to wear most, but when it comes time to go to an event, or if I simply feel like dressing up that day, I’m left with nothing fun or interesting to put on. Next year, I’m vowing to branch out and invest in more statement items that are still versatile.

“Don’t judge, but my mistake is wearing the same nude bra every day and letting it essentially disintegrate, gather pills, and become ill-fitting. I wash it regularly, but at a certain point, it’s time for an upgrade. I’m going to try the below and am all ears for good recs!”

“I feel like my clothes always need a little bit of tailoring, but I’m usually too lazy to actually get them tailored. As hard as I try to convince myself no one notices, I know they do. This year, I plan on really prioritizing paying a little extra to make sure all of my clothes fit exactly how they are supposed to.”

“I’ve realized that I tend to buy new items for specific occasions, and then I hardly ever wear them again. I am going to do my best to stop buying for occasions and invest in things that can work for a bunch of different places and events.”

“After a solid six years working in fashion, I’m finally investing in a quality work bag. (Long overdue—don’t judge me. So adios, flimsy tote, and hello, pretty leather bag. Currently eyeing the below from Everlane.”

“On occasion, a great sale will influence me to buy something that’s not my exact size, but I’m vowing to put an end to that.”

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
