The One Trend I'm Skipping in 2019

With so many trends on the horizon for 2019, I’ve recently been reflecting on the pieces I’ll readily be adding to my closet… and the items I’ll be leaving behind. After all, not all trends are primed for every fashion girl’s wardrobe. So, which trends will you not spot this fashion editor wearing in 2019? I’m afraid to break it to you, but despite all of the hype around tie-dye prints, it’s not a trend that resonates with my personal style. Talk to me in a few months, though, and we’ll see where I land.

When it comes to 2019 trends like feathers, cargo pants, and floss-like sandals, though, more is better, in my opinion. I’ve already been adding these items to my wardrobe on the regular, with pieces like a feather-embellished bustier top and naked sandals dominating my recent purchases. Meanwhile, utility pants have been a staple in my wardrobe since early last year when I packed them for a trip to Paris, and I don’t see any signs of the trend slowing down at the onset of 2019. Ahead, shop the trends I’m behind for 2019 and shop my edit of pieces to order for your New Year wardrobe.

FEATHERS

As I already mentioned, I've been wearing feathers any chance I can get (as in the photo above), and 2019 will only see more outfits where I'm incorporating feathers any way I can.

BIKE SHORTS

Over the last year, we saw bike shorts explode on the street style scene. On the onset of 2019, though, I know they're going to continue to be huge. Why, you ask? They were all over the runway shows, making appearances everywhere from Chanel to Fendi to Maryam Nassir Zadeh.

FLOSS SANDALS

Floss-like barely-there sandals will emerge as the shoe silhouette in 2019, and it's one I'm very behind. I recently picked up a Zara version of the shoes and think everyone should order them.

UTILITY PANTS

This year will see the rise of utility pants, already spotted on celebs like Bella Hadid, and I'm 100% behind it. Get ready to embrace loose-fitting worker pants and cargos in all of their iterations.

GOLD SHOES

I'm suddenly very into one of the newer trends in the fashion landscape, gold shoes, after they were the signature silhouette at Chanel's Métiers d'Art show in NYC. I promise these will be huge in 2019.
