The Elegant Trouser Trend French and Italian Women Wear Instead of Jeans During Summer
One of the things I love most about getting dressed in the summer is the sheer versatility of what your outfits can be. Dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts—nothing is off the agenda. However, my favourite item to style, whatever the reason, really, is trousers.
I've long been a trouser person and, over the years, I've honed a collection of styles I know work for each season. When it comes to summer, there's one pair I reach for more than all the others, and that's cream trousers.
Though similar to the white trousers, I find the cream trouser trend slightly more relaxed and far more versatile. Yes, bright white shades work perfectly with statement tones, but cream trousers wear so well with the in-between shades that dominate most wardrobes; think knocked-back greens, beige, burgundy and navy.
Offering a fresh alternative to denim—one that's arguably more appropriate for warmer temperatures—these lightweight trousers move beautifully as you walk, creating a breezy and relaxed silhouette. When summer comes around, I love to wear them to anchor my looks, styling them with light peach, butter yellow and earthy colours—there really isn't anything they won't go with.
Luckily for me, high-street and designer brands alike have caught on to the enduring appeal of the cream trouser trend for summer 2024. Often designed in wide-leg cuts, there are pairs in so many of my favourite stores right now. Read on to discover the cream trousers we're shopping this season.
