If You Want to Look On Trend This Autumn, These 5 Chic Boho Outfit Ideas Will Do the Trick

Imani-Nia Francis-Tsolaki
These days, I find theres often an awful lot of discourse online about ‘trends for Gen Z’ or ‘trends for Millennials'. It's almost as if the two generations inhabit entirely different fashion universes. And sure, some Gen-Zers might be more inclined to reach for a micro-mini styled with a biker boot and loud graphic tee (the sight of which might make a millennial shudder), the truth is fashion divide isn’t always so black and white.
I, a proud Gen Z, find there is nothing chicer than a timeless pleated maxi. Sure, I might style it with a lingerie-inspired lace detail cami rather than a prairie blouse, but at its core, it’s the same silhouette that’s been worn ( and loved) by fashion people regardless of their generation. Now, as a person who spends an awful amount of time writing, talking and shopping the new sections( a task thats quite literally my full-time job), I have found this year's one trend that continues to bridge the generational gap: The Boho Revival.
Now we called the boho fashion trend revival back last year, we could smell the '2000s comeback on the horizon post the Chloé autumn/winter 2024 show. What we didn't predict was how it would completely reshape the fashion landscape. These days, its a rarity to leave the house and not spot a pair of cowboy boots that feel oh so Sienna Miller circa 2004 or a waist coat short combination feels feverishly like Kate Moss at Glastonbury in 2005. Just last week JLo was spotted in a billowy boho blouse, wide leg jean combination that feels just as noughties as it does 2025.
Now the modern boho revival that was solidified at Chemena Kamali’s debut at Chloé has been quietly brewing for sometime. I distinctly recall the delicate lace maxi dresses, buckled boots and artfully tied headscarves which artfully came streaming down Dior’s Cruise collection runway back in 2021 when I was at university, planting the seed years early that boho was on its way back. Since then we’ve seen countless boho fashion brands from Doen, to Free People and Gimaguas each with a different interpretation of bohemia but unified through shared, unmistakable bohominian core.
With so many of us already investing in the aesthetic, the question becomes: how do we make use of these pieces come autumn and winter? Let's be honest, a well-capsule wardrobe will always serve you better than a drawer full of throw-away trendy pieces. I’ve done some digging and honed in on the key pieces that we all collectively own (regardless of age), and have enlisted my favourite fashion people (via the magic of Instagram imagery) to show just how versatile this trend can be in autumn 2025. Scroll on to find out more.
How to Wear Boho in Autumn 2025
1. Blouse + Denim Midi Skirt + Head Scarf
Style Notes: Perhaps the hardest working piece in any boho capsule wardrobe is a light and breezy blouse. While the best white tee is trusty and reliable a floaty blouse gives your options. While Izabella Lilly's look might work on a warm day (I'd throw on a pair of boots given the UK recent weather), on a cooler throw on top a neutral turtle neck for a stylishly layered yet practical approach. Finish with flowy bootcut pair of jeans and a square toed boot and you have a look that feels fresh and relaxed and is quite frankly equisite.

2. The Chiffon Dress
Style Notes: We've got a few weeks of mid-temp weather left, so make the most of it with a chiffon dress that looks just as good under denim jackets and trenches as it does wool coats and capes.

3. Suede and Denim
Style Notes: Try as you might to hate it, double denim just won't quit, and right now it's the perfect transitional outfit on the days that feel a little chilly. Just add suede accessories, and hey presto—a western inspired look that leans into laidback luxe.

4. The Hobo Bag
Style Notes: We can all get behind a sensible bag trend that is as practical as it is polished. Suede hobos are having a moment right now, but you can also help to ground airy fabrics with a glossy leather bag that will work for the office too.

5. Knee High Boots
Style Notes: After the weather we've been having lately we're more than happy to put our sandals away for another year and dust off our tall boots. Riding boots, heeled boots, cowboy boots; no matter, the longer the better to keep out the cold, and to pair perfectly with short skirts and mini dresses and tights.
