Though once considered a staple reserved for tennis matches or golf days, collared polo T-shirts have encountered a major resurgence of late, regaining a reputation as an essential among the fashion set. Thanks to Miuccia Prada's use of the item on the Prada S/S 20 runway, the piece has shed its formerly sporty connotations and is now seen as a stylish wear-anywhere wardrobe staple. 

Garnering the attention of influencers the world over, fitted short-sleeve polo shirts are being worn for summer by everyone from Monikh to Alyssa Coscarelli and more. The items, which were traditionally worn oversize, have had a major makeover, now being created in soft terry blends, cotton fabrics and even knitted iterations. 

Regarded as a celebrity with her finger on the pulse, Fearne Cotton has also shown an affinity for the trend. In an image she posted to Instagram recently, Cotton was seen wearing a red button-down polo shirt by Sand Copenhagen. Featuring a knitted fabric and retro-inspired contrast trim, the shirt harks back to earlier times yet still manages to remain modern. And there's not a tennis court or golf course in sight.
