Mark My Words—These Cool Flats Are Set to Become the New London It Shoe
As we wandered the streets during London Fashion Week there were a few recurring trends that we couldn't help but take note of. We spotted a strong affection for trench coats, an enduring love of leather and a downright obsession with Ganni's Buckle Ballet Flats. Riffing off the ballet flats and pointed shoes trends that took off during the summer months, Ganni's flats reached cult status towards the end of summer, merging the season's hottest shoe trends whilst injecting that Scandi twist we love so much.
Ganni's flats also incorporate a seasonal microtrend: buckle detailing. Cropping up all around us, buckle-adorned shoes have been a notable feature since Miu Miu debuted its buckle slingbacks at its A/W 23 runway show. Since then, high-street retailers have perfected their versions of strappy flats, sparking a trend in the process. Buckles will remain a key trend as we move towards the winter months, transitioning onto boots when we need to keep our feet warm. We're already seeing biker boots regain their cool-girl status, and much like in 2010, we're itching to get our hands on a pair again.
Unlike other ballet flat styles, Ganni's iteration features an ever-so-slight heel for a more structured shoe and better foot support, and as the street style set have proven, there's an abundance of ways to style them. Jeans and a tee make for a natural paring, but we've also taken note of those who have worn them with a monochrome jumpsuit or their favourite mini or maxi.
Read on to shop the pointed-toe flats that have fashion people in a spin (the snake-print, red, black and white colourways have just been restocked after selling out, so I'd advise you not to hang around), as well as our other favourite buckle styles.
