Gear Up For BBQ Season With These Must-Have Pieces
We rarely pass up the opportunity to spend quality time with friends outdoors, eat delicious food, and listen to good music, which is why summer barbecues are one of our most beloved events. It also happens to be one of our favourite occasions to get dressed for, as it’s the perfect time to break out a new pair of sandals or experiment with a bold print. This year, we’re taking style cues from two spring runways, both of which featured a grassy green colour palette that’s fitting for warm-weather soirees. While at Dolce Gabbana the Cotton Vertical Striped Dress ($2045, 877.70.DGUSA) and Raffia Sandals ($1375) seem destined for a poolside fete, we love how Kenzo’s silky Orchid Print Crepe Top ($560) and matching Forest Print Poplin Bermuda Shorts ($495) exude easy luxury. Keeping those references in mind, we rounded up an assortment of barbecue-ready items, all of which are sure to make your friends green with envy!
Drifter Shades ($50)
Add a little retro cool to your ensemble with these ‘50s-inspired shades. We love them in green, naturally, but they’re also available in pink and tortoise.
Etta Flat Sandals ($295) in Oil Green/Lemon Chartreuse/Viridian Green
Leave the casual flip-flops at home and accessorize with Tory Burch’s artfully embellished Etta Flat Sandals instead. The chic flats will go with everything from a polished shirtdress to cropped trousers.
Carrie Bag ($225, available July) in Fern
When picking the right bag to accompany your ensemble, the key is to think fuss-free. This mini cross-body bag won’t get in the way and is just big enough to store the day’s essentials.
Lala Bright Band Trilby ($23)
Don’t forget your hat! This woven chapeau from Accessorize will not only help shade your face from the sun’s harsh rays, but the green band will add a subtle pop of colour.
Leaf Print Jumpsuit ($120)
Barbecues are fun and your outfit should be too! Throw on this leaf-print jumpsuit with a slew of bright bracelets to make a fashion-forward statement this Memorial Day.
Caslyn Fine-Jersey Skort ($190)
Combining the feminine look of a skirt with the comfort of a pair of shorts, this Theory skort is ideal for alfresco dining events.
WaterColors Nail Polish ($15) in Blimey
The perfect finish to any barbecue-ready look is a standout manicure. In keeping with our green colour palette, we’ve selected Scotch Naturals’ Nail Polish in Blimey, a vibrant chartreuse that will instantly amp up your look.
Kelia Sweater ($268) in Porcelain
For those barbecues that rage on well into the evening, it’s always a good idea to pack a lightweight layer. We love this soft sweater because you can easily throw it over a bathing suit or tank top when the sun goes down.
Findux Bangle Set ($85)
We’d wear these bright bangles stacked together on one arm, but you can also layer them with other bracelets to create visual intrigue.
