See the "Outrageous" House of Gucci Outfit That Never Made the Movie

I don't know about you, but the House of Gucci premiere had been circled on my calendar in red ink for the entirety of 2021. How could I not look forward to the biggest fashion-centric movie since The Devil Wears Prada? After seeing the film, I was eager to speak with the movie's costume designer, Janty Yates, who expertly dreamed up looks that spanned three decades, the '70s, '80s, and '90s—no easy feat.

In my interview with Yates, she revealed the outfit that briefly appeared in the trailer but never actually made it into the film. The look is a sequined blue halter dress that Lady Gaga wears while clubbing, and Yates detailed how Lady Gaga herself insisted that the look be "outrageous."

"[This scene] was actually just going to be a black sequin dress," Yates toldBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing . "Then Lady Gaga said, 'Get me the most outrageous and dreadfully loud sequined fabric you can find.' My buyer came with this wonderful bright turquoise. It's very loud. [Lady Gaga's character] is six months pregnant here. Sadly, [the scene] is only in the trailer; it's not in the actual film. I guess [Director Ridley Scott] was thinking, 'Well, all they're doing is dancing and having a good time.'" The Lady Gaga Look That Didn't Make the Film

Yates went on the explain how Lady Gaga personally accessorized this look and detailed why it aligned perfectly with the real Patrizia Gucci. "Lady Gaga said, 'I need more necklaces.' She had five on, and she put another three on. She was weighed down with the gold jewelry but kept saying, 'I need another bracelet! Need four on this wrist.' Not really an understatement in jewelry. But Patrizia was like that: She always wore her wealth on display."

"This [above look] is a glorious suit from the Gucci archive. She's also wearing a '70s mink coat thanks to a wonderful company in Italy who lent us the furs. This is one of the only outfits she wore without any jewelry. It spoke for itself."

"This is an original Gucci outfit. This is a double-G silk tie-neck blouse from the archives and a brown leather skirt. Very '80s. We thought she was very much part of the Gucci family at this point in time, even though she was actually going to be served divorce papers. She was strengthening her muscles; pushing up her metaphorical shirt sleeves."

"I have to say I was completely gobsmacked when this picture went viral [earlier this year]. [Adam Driver] in his Aran sweater has now got its own website or something. Crazy. All the Halloween tributes were very endearing. I wanted her in black because it was the chinchilla coat that was supposed to wow. Of course, this was taken without the coat—probably just as well."

"This look is spectacular. I'd always have a rail of my cutter's costumes for Lady Gaga's fittings and a rail of vintage. We were in the snow, and we were in the basement of this totally twee Swiss hotel with lots of gingham and check anywhere. She walked in, and she said, 'I want that to meet Paolo in,' so I said let's try it on. She fits everything perfectly—it's extraordinary how well she fits things. It fit like a glove, and we hardly made any alterations."

"This is a silk animal-print dress. This is one of my favorites because it's so understated yet loud with the stole, the bag, and the sunglasses. This was a custom-made look."

Next, Jennifer Aniston and J.Lo both wore the denim trend I'm replacing skinnies with
