Not Going to Fashion Week? Here's How to Play Along at Home
While Fashion Week Australia is undeniably the major fashion event of the year, we understand that not everyone is able to actually attend. Whether you live in a different city, work in a different field, or are busy with your studies, being unable to physically attend the event doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to celebrate it nevertheless. While going to the shows is one way of participating, there are many other ways to use Fashion Week Australia as an excuse to live life a little more fashionably. After all, the whole point is to celebrate our country’s amazing style, so shouldn’t we all strive to take part in some way? The more the merrier.
Whether you use the week as an excuse to snap a few street style images or just commit to educating yourself a bit more on the topic of fashion, there are a number of ways to get in on the fun. It’s your week, so celebrate however you want, but to get you thinking we’ve listed a few ideas for you. Feel free to use these as springboards for your own method of celebration, or adopt one (or all) of the ideas below for a sartorially saturated week. Feeling excited yet? We are.
Educate yourself about fashion
No matter how on trend you are, chances are there is still even more you could learn about fashion. If you find yourself drawn to a particular designer, why not consider reading their biography? Or if you feel under-informed on the business side of things, consider skimming Business of Fashion for a whole new perspective. Not to mention, there are also numerous fashion podcasts that are well worth a listen. You’ll be a fashion know-it-all in no time.
Throw a sartorial soirée
Always looking for an excuse to throw a dinner party? Look no further. Invite all your chicest friends over for a fashion week celebration. Use your favourite street style as inspiration, and make sure everyone dresses to the nines.
Participate in our street style awards
Did you know thatBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing Australia has our own street style awards? That’s right, #TheStreeties are back and better than ever for Fashion Week Australia 2018, so don’t hesitate to get involved. While we’ll be scoping for street style outside the shows, for those not attending, participating is as easy as hashtagging a street style pic of yourself. Grab a friend, strike a pose, pop it on the ‘gram, and look at that—you’re a part of fashion week now. Who knows? Maybe we’ll even regram your outfit if it’s a real winner.

Clean Your closet
Yes, it may sound boring, but stick with us. Out with the old and in with the new… it’ll allow you to really get a sense of your style and begin to see what you actually wear. Not only will organising your closet de-clutter your life in general, but it will allow you to curate a wardrobe you really love while saying goodbye to the stuff you don’t. But don’t just throw everything away; anything you’re over, consider donating, recycling, or reselling… we don’t need any more clothes piling up in landfills!
Create an “Inpso board"
It’s like a Pinterest board, but IRL. Flip through your favourite magazines and cut out photos of whatever suits your fancy. Seeing it all in one place will give you a clear idea of what your style ideal is and give you an aesthetic you can aspire to. Even though it’s not street style, we’d also love to see the final outcomes of this project, so if you do make one, please tag us in a pic of it.
