According to Influencers, These Are the 6 Winter Trends That Truly Matter

Dark mornings and colder temperatures: it's what we all know is in store by the time November rolls around. But one thing that isn't talked about enough is the trends that begin to land when winter kicks into gear.

Just like every other season, winter sees an influx of new looks to try—and they're not all necessarily puffer coats and woollen scarves (though such essential items shouldn't be overlooked). Winter trends can be just as fashionable as that of their summer counterparts, and I have the proof.

My job is to keep up-to-speed on all-things fashion, and that includes what influencers are wearing. And whilst dutifully carrying out my latest Instagram scroll, I noticed countless influencers wearing winter trends to very cool avail.

There's the key new update to look for in any new boots you invest in and a fresh coat silhouette to consider. And, as for party season, those in the know have found the accessory to see you through everything, from low-key drinks to karaoke sessions at 2 a.m. What are you waiting for? Scroll on to see six examples of influencers wearing winter trends that are just so darn good.

1. Scarf Jumpers

Style Notes: Out of all the knitwear trends this season, influencers seem most excited about jumpers with built-in scarf necklines—and so are we. Most likely inspired by the viral sensation that is the Totême scarf coat, this knitwear trend is only going to ramp up the further into winter we delve.

2. Zip-Front Boots

Style Notes: If there's one thing you should invest in this season, above all else, it's a chunky pair of flat boots. I know, I know—we've already been telling you this for months on end, but if you've yet to buy into it or want to upgrade your footwear collection, look for styles with zip-fronts as made popular by The Row. Psst... M&S has a great dupe.

3. Cut-Out Tops

Style Notes: In my opinion (and just about everyone else's), you can never go wrong with jeans and a nice top. This year's preferred top iteration? Those with letterbox- and keyhole-style cut-outs. These first came onto the style scene in the early '00s but thanks to the continuation of the Y2K aesthetic, this top trend is back with a vengeance, just in time for party season.

4. Maxi Coats

Style Notes: There are coats, and then there are coats that are so premium-looking, you need to take note. Influencers have been wearing '90s-style maxi coats in neutral and versatile hues for weeks already. Now, it's time for you to embrace the longline outerwear movement.

5. Slip Skirts

Style Notes: Slip skirts began trending again a few years ago when Topshop released its satin midi in just about every colour you can think of. Still, with the takeover of trousers in 2022, it was overlooked for a big portion of the year. Now, however, it's very much back on the style agenda, with gemstone hues and maxi lengths being the most coveted by the fashion pack.

6. SPARKLY BAGS

Style Notes: I like my wardrobe basics, but even I find the recent dose of sparkly arm-candy hitting the fashion scene hard to resist. I'll make like Marissa and wear mine with jeans and simple separates to give it a polished feel, but for those of you who prefer your looks on the vivid side, I can't wait to see what you do with yours.
