Anthony Vaccarello Just Won for Best Front Row at Saint Laurent
How does a new creative director make a splash at his first fashion week debut for one of the most iconic brands in history? Well, placing one of Europe’s most famous fashion icons and her two famous daughters in the front row isn’t a bad start. That’s right, Jane Birkin, along with her daughters, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon, coordinating in Saint Laurent approved black-and-white looks nearly stole the show in Paris last night—until it started, of course.
Minutes later, when the catwalk began, the world got its first look at AV for SL, and it instantly became clear that while Heidi Slimane will be missed, it is definitely not the end of this successful era for the highly revered brand. From iconic tuxedos to party dresses to the most covetable leather pieces, Vaccarello struck the perfect balance between paying homage to the house’s heritage, while simultaneously making it his own.
