Katie Holmes Just Wore the Perfect Puddle Pants for Winter

Katie Holmes cemented her fashion-icon status the moment she stepped out in that Khaite bra-digan in 2019 and, honestly, she hasn't put a foot wrong since. The undisputed queen of low-key NYC street style, Holmes makes off-duty fashion choices that have earned her a loyal legion of fans who are eager to see what she'll wear next. Needless to say, I'm one of them. I take the responsibility of sharing her looks with the masses very seriously, but even I almost let her latest 'fit slip through the net.

Holmes stepped out in New York's Midtown earlier this week, and there's but one photograph of her most recent ensemble. Just one. And what a shame it would have been to miss it! The actor had just come from hosting an intimate dinner with skincare expert Barbara Sturm to celebrate the opening of two new stores in the city when waiting photographers managed to capture this impressive look in motion. Featuring an oversized leather shirt paired with wide-leg leather trousers, both of which are from Khaite, this look just might be one of my favourite Katie Holmes outfits to date.

Holmes is just one of the many celebrities who have been readily wearing puddle pants—trousers with long hemlines that pool around the ankle—this season, and I'm into how she's managed to transition the trend into winter by sourcing a pair in a leather fabrication. Not only will it keep you significantly warmer than other textiles, but also leather is more hard-wearing in the adverse weather. This woman doesn't come to play.
