Some jeans and jacket pairings miss the mark, but some are a match made in heaven. On a walk in New York this week, Katie Holme's styled the latter, whilst satisfying my desire for some fresh winter styling inspiration in the process.
Styling a long-line button-down coat for her outing, Holmes chose a frosty grey colour to set the tone of her look. Cropping up on all of our favourite celebrities and influencers, the grey colour trend has become one of the most prevalent of the season. Adding depth to her winter look, Holmes swapped her light wash jeans for a deep, dark wash shade in a long, wide-leg cut. The uncommon colour-pairing balanced her look, injecting a wintery-edge without appearing too dark and heavy.
Tapping into another beloved winter trend, Holmes swapped her large black bag for a compact red crossbody, incorporating a flash of colour whilst nodding towards the season's favourite shade.
Adding height and structure to her outfit, Holmes styled her wide-leg jeans with black square-toe boots. For its leg-elongating qualities, a wide-leg jeans and square-toe boots pairing is a capsule wardrobe staple that I'll always come back to.
Debuting a fresh winter-trim, the actress wore her long brown hair down and loosely styled for a natural, yet relaxed effect. Completing her style was her newly cut side-swept fringe. Though the side-bangs were a staple of early 00s fashion, Holme's chic styling made the dated cut look very 2023.
Marrying a fresh winter look with some dark and grounding qualities, Holme's outfit has reshaped how I see winter styling.
