Kim Kardashian West Told Me Her Favorite Bra-and-Underwear Trend Right Now
What you wear underneath your clothes can make or break your outfit—something Kim Kardashian West clearly knows a thing or two about. The multi-hyphenate launched her shapewear and underwear brand, Skims, to much media fanfare in September (which we happily contributed to with our honest editor review story).
Of course, the initial launch was just the tip of the iceberg. Kardashian West hosted a Skims event in Los Angeles this week to celebrate the upcoming award season and reveal some of the newest additions to the brand, including body tape and pasties. I got a few minutes to chat with Kardashian West herself, so naturally, I took the opportunity to ask about all things underwear.
"My favorite general lingerie trend would be really sporty and really simple," Kardashian West toldBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing . "Like a scoop-neck bra with a simple thong. I like simplicity and comfort, even if it's supposed to be sexy lingerie. I think you can have both." Are you taking notes?
I also asked her about the item that has no place on the red carpet. "If there was one undergarment I would never wear [on the red carpet], it would be shapewear with the seam up the front. That is a killer and always ruins a tight dress, and I've always hated it, which is why I [designed] our shapewear to be seamless." Given how quickly Skims pieces sell out, Kardashian West is clearly not the only one who feels this way about visible panty lines.
Last but not least, I asked Kardashian West about her number one shapewear item for the red carpet. Her answer? The Skims Core Control Shorts ($38), which she calls her go-to. So whatever she chooses to wear at 2020's major award shows, you already know what she'll be wearing underneath. Scroll down to shop the brand.

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
