This Was the Last Colour We Expected to Take Off for Summer 2019
Lime green wasn't meant to be the colour trend of the summer, but it is. Look to our fashion predictions for S/S 19 and you'll mostly see beiges and neons. True, green could fall under the neon umbrella, but we expected pink (more flattering) or orange (Pantone's colour of the year) to be bigger hits, which is why we didn't see lime green coming. Even the search term "green aesthetic" is starting to pop off on Pinterest.
While we pride ourselves on knowing what's coming next when it comes to trends, sometimes our crystal ball doesn't give us everything, which is great because otherwise fashion would be boring. As well as keeping us on our toes, lime green is injecting our summer wardrobes with some much-needed fun.
The beauty with this hue is that it genuinely works with lots of other shades in your wardrobe. Only love muted tones of black, beige and white? Good news: It looks exceptional against all those colours and will make an outfit stand out. But if you're more about bold prints and primaries, you better believe that lime also works with those colours too.
The proof, however, is in the Instagram shot, which is why we've found loads of our favourite fashion friends wearing the trend. From bright ginghams to bags as well as trousers and dresses, there are plenty of ways we've seen lime being worn. So get some ideas on how you might style this trend; then keep going to shop our edit of lime-green pieces.
Style Notes: Lime gingham with floral trousers, a pair of orange flip-flops and a yellow bag shouldn't work, but it very much does.
Style Notes:Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing U.S. Editor in Chief Kat Collings clashes lime with a baby-blue dress and strappy red sandals.
Style Notes: For those not wanting to go too crazy when it comes to lime, try Lucy Williams's take by wearing a pair of black sandals and a muted floral top.
Style Notes: Green on green should always be seen.
Style Notes: Muted brown tones are a great way to make any lime in your outfit stand out.
Style Notes: Kendall Jenner opted for lime way back in December.
Style Notes: Proof that orange and lime look great together.
