5 Wearable 2021 Trends That Just Became a Thing in London

Allyson Payer
This very unique fashion month continues on with New York and London Fashion Weeks under our belts. We already highlighted the standout looks from NYFW and now are shifting gears to reflect on the noteworthy moments from LFW. Specifically, we wanted to focus on those emerging trends that are not only forward in nature but are also highly wearable. Essentially, the trends in question could all be easily mixed into our current offerings to create of-the-moment looks.
To showcase said trends, we zeroed in on a range of S/S 21 collections, which were all presented in new, innovative ways given the current times—including virtual shows and lookbook presentations (rather than large audience events). Below, you’ll find five prominent trends featuring designers from Burberry to Erdem to Victoria Beckham. You’ll also uncover inspired shopping picks if you’re interested in testing out the looks now.

Vintage-inspired collars have been making the rounds this fall, and those bold upper details will hold strong come spring, adorned on everything from blouses to knits.

Tailored blazers are timeless and will always be around, but it’s the statement-making cuts featuring eclectic patterns, slouchy fits, and color blocking that will have their moment. Sure, these jackets are eye-catching, but they’re highly wearable when paired with basics like jeans and neutral trousers.

The classic white shirt reigned supreme in spring 2020. It’s those slightly more exaggerated, reimagined shirting silhouettes that will enter the spotlight in 2021, worn on their own with jeans or with layered elements (like bralettes and vests on top).

It wouldn't be fashion month without a few standout color trends, and the clear one coming out of London was red. Not just subtle accents of red—full looks in bold, bright red. After several seasons of neutrals reigning supreme, it's refreshing to see a burst of color for spring/summer 2021. Although it's a trend, red is undoubtedly classic and versatile, so you can easily just wear a casual red dress or pair a red top with jeans to embrace it.

If it seems like unique trench coats are a trend every season in recent memory, you wouldn't be wrong, and spring/summer 2021 would be no exception. There's something to be said for the repetition, though. The fact that designers continue to put forth special, reworked trench coats is a testament to how investment-worthy they are. If you decide to purchase one, you're likely to wear it for years to come, and given that it can be thrown over anything or be worn as a dress of sorts, you'll wear it time and again.
