Madelyn Cline and Hailey Bieber Styled the Same Trend in Vastly Different Ways

The leather trench coat is one of those humble wardrobe workhorses that comes in and out of vogue depending on everything from the weather forecast to the cultural vibe. With the resurgence of Y2K-era fashion, we've seen celebs channeling Matrix-esque looks, often pairing long leather trench coats with rectangular sunglasses, harkening back to the blockbuster film's minimal yet majorly influential costume design. But now, it's 2023, and this isn't a simulation… for now, at least. It should be no surprise that there are myriad ways of styling the trusty leather trench.

Just look at Madelyn Cline and Hailey Bieber, who were both recently spotted wearing trench coats. While Bieber opted for a casual look with denim shorts and a prep school inspired sweater-vest and loafers, Cline's ensemble reads both stylish and practical as a warm outer layer paired with a chic navy-blue jumpsuit and black boots. Although we'd be remiss not to acknowledge that location plays a major role in how these two styled the trend (Bieber wore her trench in L.A., and Cline was spotted in NYC), it's obvious that a great leather trench can work with just about any outfit.

Ahead, shop pieces to re-create both Cline's and Bieber's looks, including a few of our favorite leather trench coats. Trust us—they're worth the investment.
