Guess How Many Hours It Took to Create Margot Robbie's Oscars Dress

Margot Robbie's Oscars look is no exception—and the exact number of hours the ensemble required might surprise you. The Best Actress nominee took to the red carpet in a custom Chanel Haute Couture gown designed by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. The striking white number was constructed with a corseted bodice bedecked in a garland draping made of a 3D band of crystal tubes and boasting two 3D camellias (Coco Chanel's favorite flower). The corsage and strap embroidery alone required 550 hours and 14 hands. The rest of the dress took an additional 130 hours. Stylist Kate Young describes the embroidery as "futurist," noting that sometimes it can err on feeling too stuffy. "I wanted it to be embroidered, but feel cool," she explained to InStyle.
