I Live in Paris, and This Is What I'm Buying for Autumn

A good leather jacket never goes out of style, but instead of a biker cut, I’m opting for a longer silhouette with a tie waist. It’s more elegant, will accentuate your figure (important for Parisiennes) and will look just as good over a pair of jeans as it will over a midi skirt, which, take it from Celine, is a key piece this season.

Another wardrobe essential which I need to update this season is a cream knit. I’ll be wearing this on its own while it’s still mild and then layering under heavy coats come winter.

I go to a lot of events for work, so dresses that I can throw on for an evening are a must. I was recently sent a fuchsia Art Dealer dress and now would like it in every shade, as it’s so flattering. I’m particularly loving this, dare I say, joker-style split-colour silk option.

You might have noticed recently that your Instagram feed has become saturated with photos featuring a certain brand. If so, you’ll know that Daniel Lee’s new Bottega Veneta pieces have become hot property. I’m currently saving up for these shoes.

No Parisienne’s wardrobe is complete without a pair of leather trousers, and these are the perfect style to pair with a tee and blazer for evenings out as the temperatures continue to drop.

A couple of weeks ago, I co-hosted an event with Ba&sh andBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing where I talked about French fashion, key autumn pieces and styling tips. I insisted on a good blazer—perhaps a little too much—but people purchased it, so it must have done the trick. A blazer is my go-to piece for elevating any look and my sentiment is "If in doubt, throw a blazer over it!”

I’ve recently developed a penchant for lime green. The hue has slowly crept into my wardrobe this year (first with a slip skirt and second with sandals), and now I have my eye on this knit, which I’ll wear with everything from a khaki skirt to jeans.

Long bohemian dresses are in this season, and I’ve got my eye on this Rixo number. I’d wear it with knee-high white boots or sneakers and a trench during the day and with heels and blazer for the evening.

It can’t have escaped you that beige continues to be big this year. I’ve had my eye on these boots for a while. I’m certain they will go with everything, and they have the perfect heel height for walking through Paris.

I’m not usually one for patterned jeans, but I’m very drawn to this tie-dye print by Isabel Marant. I envisage wearing them with a cream knit and chocolate brown coat.

When it comes to fashion, most Parisiennes march to the beat of their own drum, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t follow the odd trend. If Isabel Marant’s autumn collection was anything to go by, utilitarian style will be one of the trends you should pick up on. I’m loving this oversized khaki coat from Ganni, which will certainly have longevity in my wardrobe. Khaki is a colour that goes with everything, and this is a great cut that will keep you warm and looking chic.

Parisian-born sneaker brand Veja is one of my favourite sustainable labels. These new black hiking-style trainers will keep my feet dry and comfy, and will also look great with a long dress and trench coat.

Tôteme creates pieces that are built to last. I love this quilted jacket, which will slot perfectly into my wardrobe and work as an update on the black blazer.
