This Is Next Year's Met Gala Theme

While we have months to go before the 2018 Met Gala (the first Monday in May, lest we forget), we now have our first glimpse of what the affair will be next year. Vogue has announced the theme for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual exhibition: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The gala to celebrate the enormous undertaking will be co-hosted by none other than Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace.
“It’s important to have ideas that are a reflection of contemporary interests,” Andrew Bolton, the exhibit's curator, told The New York Times. "That strike a chord or are synergistic with the collective consciousness.” The pieces included will come from a range of iconic designers including Coco Chanel, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and Dolce Gabbana, and will highlight the ways in which culture and religion intersect in both the past and in the modern world. The Institute has been in talks with the Vatican as well as more local religious officials, and religious garments will also be featured in the grand exhibition.
