Here's How I Turned My 3 Favourite Midi Skirts Into 9 Perfect Outfits
There's no denying my love affair with midi skirts. I've been a fangirl for quite a few seasons now, and they have served me and my wardrobe very well. I've been almost spoilt this season with the endless styles that have hit both the designer market and the high street. Topshop's £29 silk midi skirt has surely been one of the brand's most popular items of spring, and it's not surprising considering what a great cut and price it is. Of course, I've already purchased it in black, teal and tie-dye… This week, I wanted to do a midi skirt only week (well, nine days, such is my dedication) and test drive their wearability for a range of occasions. From a more luxurious option (Joseph's silky asymmetric number) to a simpler, more affordable style (hi there, Topshop linen version), these are my favourite three midis to shop right now and the different ways I set about styling them.
Joseph's Floral Aysmetric Skirt
Style Notes: This silky Joseph number is one of the dreamiest skirts I've come across in a long time. It's so lightweight and elegant that you'll barely feel like you've got it on. Style with a chunky knit for work or a weekend coffee stop. If the weather's not looking great this look also looks really cool with chunky flat boots.

Style Notes: With this skirt being so delicate and feminine, it lends itself well to something tougher on top such, as this Nanushka vegan leather shirt. When choosing a shirt like this, just be careful to keep an eye on where it falls, as any lower on the hip and it can look a little off and dated (a higher waist is preferable).

Style Notes: I went into full summer mode with fancy shirting via this Jacquemus wrap number. A little midriff showing here can be really fun for holiday evenings, or if you'd prefer to keep covered, then a front tuck is also great. Layer up the gold jewellery and pair with mules.

Topshop's Linen Button-Down Pencil Skirt
Style Notes: I fell in love with this Topshop linen skirt due to its button detailing—the one thing that makes it look more expensive. The pencil wrap shape is a new one for me, as I tend to go for something looser, but after a few try-ons, I was hooked. With this outfit, I've gone head-to-toe in hot-weather whites whilst still keeping it chic and weekday-appropriate. This wrap shirt from Other Stories is a great and complements the skirt's wrap shape. Thanks to the darker buttons on the midi, this look can carry off simple, minimalistic accessories.

Style Notes: Nothing says "summer party" like an itsy silk cami and a micro bag. For this evening look, I wanted everything else to be minimal (both in style and size) to let the skirt the main focus. At just £10, this Zara top is the perfect bargain to finish the look.

Style Notes: A blazer with a midi? Yes, go for it, as long as the shape and style are right. This Zara waist-cinching blazer proves that these two pieces make the perfect office-ready (or wedding-guest) look.

Rixo's Silky Spot Slip Skirt
Style Notes: I'm not usually one that's crazy for colour, but Rixo's Kelly midi skirt has just the right amount and reflects the light perfectly as you swish around. I've styled this for a weekend or workwear look with Rejina Pyo's oversized shirt, which is a must-tuck situation due to the fact that it's quite voluminous. I just went for the half-side tuck to emphasize the waist whilst still remaining oversized and cool.

Style Notes: Take this silky skirt into the evening with a bit more flesh on show (something one-shouldered will do the trick in a sophisticated way). The key to getting this right is making sure your top isn't any longer than mine, as it will create an unflattering, disproportionate line and cut the skit up too much. A metallic bag is the best way to make this easy outfit feel ready for after dark.

Style Notes: Long-line cardigans and midi skirts are a combo that really shouldn't work, but this Topshop button-down knit has made me throw the rule book out the window. I've teamed this with chunky flat sandals which are, of course, a firm favourite shoe right now. It's a little bit '90s, but that's quite alright with me.
