Miley Cyrus Wore a Sheer Dress With a Major Trend at the VMAs

Sheer dresses on the red carpet are nothing new (just ask Beyoncé at the Met Gala, Rihanna at the CFDA Awards, and countless other statement-making stars). But Miley Cyrus's number at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards has us buzzing because not only is it chic, but it's also an accessory trend that had a significant presence on the fall/winter 2020 runways: opera gloves.

In fact, Cyrus plucked this look straight off the Mugler runway—one of the noteworthy designers pioneering the trend. Given the state of the world right now, an accessory trend like this couldn't be any more relevant. We hardly think it's a coincidence that lengthy opera gloves are making an appearance in the celeb world, and we wouldn't be surprised to keep seeing even more looks from here on out.

Scroll down to see Miley Cyrus's look on the socially distant red carpet at the 2020 VMAs, and then keep scrolling for more appearances of opera gloves on the runways.
